A David and Goliath struggle GMO vs Organic

As humans developed from hunting in gathering to a more agrarian society, growing food was by organic methods. Since the 1970s GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) food has been steadily increasing in the available fruits and vegetables.  Biotechnology creates combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and virus genes to produce GMO food that do not occur in nature through traditional crossbreeding methods.  Biotechnology can change the DNA structures of our fruits and vegetables in a brief period of time, unfortunately our DNA cannot adapt to these “new foods” quickly.  This has been called a genetic mismatch.

There are no credible, independent, and long-term studies for the safety of GMO’s.  65 countries around the world, including Australia, Japan and all the countries in European Union required genetically modified foods to be labile.

Under the USDA’s National Bioengineered Disclosures Standard (NBFDS) not all products containing GMO’s must be labeled in the United States. Under this current standard, many exceptions prevent this from being anything close to transparent.

Some GMO foods are modified using synthetic biology, hydrolyzing vegetable proteins, corn syrups, sucrose, and texture vegetable proteins.

The bottom line is that we are eating food that is far from natural.

Farmers that grow GMO food are under restrictive license agreements that prevent farmers from saving seeds.  They must rely on third party corporations to provide farmers with both GMO seeds and chemicals such as herbicides (glyphosate/Roundup).  This poses a serious threat to farmer sovereignty and to our national food security.

Organic food is produced without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizer that are GMO free. By switching to organic food, you will avoid the most dangerous chemicals as well as food that the human body can metabolize and utilize readily.

There is so much to discuss regarding the difference between GMO and organic foods and I do not believe the media is interested in talking about it.  I strongly suggest that you Google the Rodale Institute where you can find straight information in a simple format.  This information may prevent you from getting cancer.
