Health Alert and Correction
The World Health Association (WHO) has announced a review into potential risks of plastic in drinking water after a new analysis of some of the world’s most popular bottled water brands found more than 90% contain tiny pieces of plastic. A previous study also found high levels of micro plastic and tap water.
In the new study, analysis of 259 bottles from 19 locations in 9 countries across 11 different brands found an average of 325 plastic particles for every leader of water being sold.
The news media is reporting up is no conclusive evidence that this will have an effect on health.
How many times have you heard that? Later much later further studies found that there was a negative health effect. The same as margarine, vegetable oils, fats, mold, cigarettes. If you are old enough to remember the cigarette ads where doctors were telling you that they are perfectly safe.
There is quite a bit of evidence that plastics have a negative effect on human health. Plastics and plasticizers when absorbed into the human body mimic hormones primarily estrogen. Estrogen dominance causes multiple types of cancers, infertility both male and female, and what may seem like distant healthcare problems.
It makes me so angry. You are trying to do something good by drinking more water and not knowing you are ingesting chemicals that cause cancer.
Even if there weren’t plastic particles in the water, chemicals from the plastics leach into the water. That water bottle might’ve been sitting in a hot storeroom for months.
So here’s what you need to do- and do it today.
· Get a water filter for your home. There are many different types to choose from. The least expensive is the Brita. Which is a drip type water filter. The next best and what I use at home is Aquasana. They carry filters from countertop to whole house filters. The countertop or under the sink versions are reasonable and do a great job. The best type of water filters a reverse osmosis filter. These can be pricey.
· Stop purchasing and drinking out of any plastic bottle. Sorry folks soda and especially diet soda has their own special health risks.
· Purchase stainless steel containers for your filtered water. They come in all sizes and shapes and they are very reasonable. Some are also insulated.
Now for the Correction.
