We All Need Each Other’s Help

advocates-for-patients-1

Everybody needs a community. Research shows that the risk of chronic disease and mortality is directly related to high social stress. The feeling of being isolated has a risk for chronic disease higher than physical inactivity, alcohol consumption of over 6 drinks a day, and smoking 15 cigarettes daily. This social isolation is heightened by the “social media” and use of our smart phones. I became aware of this epidemic through my studies and functional medicine and most of my patients have at least one autoimmune disease. I hear the cries for help – I feel like I’m falling apart, I’m lost, what’s wrong with me, I don’t know where else I can turn for help.

There’s well over 100 autoimmune diseases impacting about 1 in 5 people. You most likely you know several people fighting against one or more autoimmune diseases. Getting a diagnosis takes on average 4 years, 5 doctors and approximately $50,000 in medical expenses. Autoimmune disease is one of the top 10 leading causes of death in female children and women of all ages.

Because of the difficulty getting to a diagnosis there is a feeling of isolation, why am I so different, all of the tests am are normal what’s wrong with me, is it all in my head? This stress and feeling isolated definitely will lead to an increased progression of the autoimmune disease.

I would like you to consider helping me to develop an autoimmune community. This will be a platform to share stories, support one another with helpful tips. I would like to know what you want. How do you want to develop this community.  I have a blog set up on my website where we can start talking.

Locally we can have group discussions in different settings. I hope to develop webinars on different aspects of autoimmune disease. It would be very helpful if I get some direction by the in what community what’s. What is important to you? You may want to hear the testing procedures and what they mean. I can also discuss what you can do to minimize symptoms, slow the progress and even reverse autoimmune diseases.  There are many directions we can take our community. It is our community, I need your help in order help you. There will never be a charge, this will always be free.

Please take a moment to join our community on my website robertromanelli.com/blog/  When in the website look to the right of the screen under the heading of newsletters.(I’m no longer writing newsletters.) This will be strictly for our community. What I didn’t mention earlier is that being socially connected in a community reduces risk of chronic disease and increases life span.

Do it today for your health while helping others. If you know of someone that might be interested, please pass along this information. It’s your 1st step in helping others.
